Week 12 Challenge: A Global Gospel

What did Jesus say?

Go Make Disciples of All Nations

  • Matthew 28:19-20:  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In Other Text:

  • Acts 1:7-8:  He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  • 1 Chronicles 16:24:  Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!

Challenge:

The Good News was never meant to be only shared “at church” on Sunday, it’s meant to be shared both locally and globally. Jesus’ command is to share “His Truth” freely and eagerly with everyone.

So the key to sharing starts with a heart that’s willing! Are we willing to step into relationships with people that are different?  Are we willing to grow, and learn about people that think, look, and act differently than us?

So the command of Jesus to share the gospel includes sharing to everyone, not just the people we prefer.  While this mandate might seem to be an overwhelming or even impossible task the key is remembering we have Holy Spirit with us to lead and direct us to those who are ready to hear.
