Week 2 Challenge: Realignment Required

What did Jesus say?

Repent

  • Matthew 4:17 – From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

In Other Text:

  • Acts 3:19-21 –  19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, 21 whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.
  • 2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Challenge:

The word “repent” means to change your mind.  This is a work of the Spirit of God in our life, not just self-effort to “be” better or “do” better. By submitting to God’s direction, Holy Spirit can move my heart to change my mind, changing my course to follow Jesus.

Talk with Jesus this week about areas in your life that you may be guarding or hiding from Him, and possibly from others, as well. Consider anything that might not align with Jesus.  Ask the Holy Spirit to convict and correct your course as you choose to walk in obedience to Jesus.
