What did Jesus say?
Pray For Laborers
- Luke 10:2: These were His instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
In Other Text:
- Exodus 31:1-5 The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.
- Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Challenge:
In this post-pandemic era, we are seeing businesses nationwide suffer from a shortage of laborers. Where have all the workers gone? Sometimes, I wonder if the Lord is asking His church the same question. Jesus declared a labor shortage on the mission field thousands of years ago, and provided a simple strategy for team building:
- Pray for more workers.
- Remember Who is in charge of the harvest.
Since God is the one who gifts each of us with specific abilities and talents, doesn’t it just make sense that we would ask Him to send those who are innately equipped for the task set before us? So many times we rely on our own logic or reason when building a team. What if we relied on the One who knows us all by name instead?
Remember, the harvest itself belongs to the Lord. This week, let’s faithfully work the field we’ve been given, then release the ultimate outcome to One who holds the whole world in His hands.
