Week 8 Challenge: Whom Shall I Fear?

What did Jesus say?

Fear Not

  • Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

In Other Text:

  • Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
  • Acts 9:31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.

Challenge:

All throughout scripture, the Lord challenges us to fear Him above fearing mortal man.  Yet all throughout scripture, we are also promised persecution, tests, and trials as a part of life here on earth.  If the unchanging Word of God tells me troubled times are ahead, shouldn’t I fear my fellow man?

It is vital that we stand upon the promise of God’s constant presence with us through His Spirit, who will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us as we face each new day with Him.  If our All-knowing, All-powerful God holds our every moment, and our eternity, we can choose to walk in peace, assured that our days are numbered and our steps are ordered (Proverbs 20:24).

Let’s allow the truth of God’s daily presence to help us fight the innate fear of man this week.
